THE POST (2017)

I’m just gonna be honest... I saw The Post about 4 weeks ago and I can’t really remember anything definitive about it.
The title refers to The Washington Post newspaper. Which has in its hands proof of corruption regarding the government and the war in Vietnam. Will the new owner of The Post publish this exposé against the men in black’s wishes? Spoiler… probably.

It’s Spielberg so obviously it’s gonna be quality. Same goes for Hanks, same goes for Streep. Great supporting cast (cracking year for The West Wing alumni). Michael Stuhlbarg again; always a pleasure. Sarah Paulson being criminally underused making sandwiches.

I wonder if I feel this way because it compares unfavourably to 2016 Best Picture winner Spotlight? Whereas that film was fast paced and thrilling, this one just doesn’t scratch that itch. Also the gay community have been denied any delicious Meryl quotes.
