Welcome to Nine Thumbs Up! My thoughts on film; where everything is indeed a rave.

Just like when dining enthusiast Homer Simpson becomes a food critic* and awards each dish the highest honour, as a cinephile I too strive to comment on the best in the films I love. I guarantee plenty of light, a smattering of gentle shade and zero objectivity.

Toward the end of award season in 2015, to my shame I realised I hadn’t seen any of the Oscar contenders for Best Picture. With only days to go I made myself accountable by documenting my one-week cinematic binge. What started as a brief overview has become a verbose answer to a question nobody asked. And thanks to lockdown I now provide a selection of some of my favourite films at random.
