Call Me By Your Name
CALL ME BY YOUR NAME (2017)
Less of a picture and more of a 2 hour advert from Italy’s Tourist Board. I loved it. I wanted to be there eating soft boiled eggs for breakfast and cycling everywhere while my oversized shirt billows in the breeze.
Based on the novel by André Aciman and the screenplay by James Ivory (now with his 4th nomination) is excellent but the silences between the actors makes it all the more compelling. The story is simple but the acting is great
Timothée Chalamet has the awkward look of yearning down to a fine art. Seems a bit tight that Armie Hammer has been neglected in the noms. Amy Adams feels his pain. The cinematography is beautiful. The score is lovely. The characters are relatable. Just a bloody nice film! If the winter blues are getting you down this is the one for you.
9 thumbs up
