MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (2015)

What an open-minded change of pace for a Best Picture nominee. A truly exhilarating film with a fun 80’s style action hero in Tom Hardy and a captivating anti-heroine in Charlize Theron, complete with shaved head and prosthetic arm.

Ive been obsessed with Theron since her formidable portrayal of a serial killer in Monster - for which she snatched the Best Actress Oscar in ‘04 - and she gives an equally fierce performance here.

The sound is explosive, the costumes are moving artwork and the orange hue of the post-apocalyptic Australia has never looked better. It’s a solid 2-hour car chase disguised as a film.
